Inside Text: Left: Born in Britain in the 4th century, Patrick was kidnapped at 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. There he tended sheep for six lonely, bleak years with only an Irish wolfhound for company, yet he found comfort in God during this solitude. In a vision, Patrick was urged to flee Ireland; he eventually studied in Rome and became a priest. Years later, he had a vision to return to Ireland where he continued to spread Christianity. March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day, is believed to be his death date and is celebrated as his Feast Day.
